April 22, 2013 Team 7 Edge (following Level 10 Regionals)

Who: All gymnasts who have qualified to Level 10 nationals (plus alternates) and their coaches
Where: Head over Heels, Middletown, NJ

June 28-30, 2013 Pre-Season Prep

Who: Levels 8-10
Where: Apollo Gymnastics, Woodbridge, VA

Information will be emailed to states and posted on the website soon!

September 20-22, 2013 High Performance Training Camp

Who: All Level 9 and 10 gymnasts who qualified to Nationals/NIT/Easterns are invited to attend. Coaches without qualifying gymnasts may also register to attend to learn new ideas at this outstanding event!
Where: Woodward Gymnastics Camp, Woodward, PA

All camps will be approved for CPE credit for judges.

Prep Optional Update

The PA State Board has changed the warm-up times for Prep Optional Levels. They are now as follows:

Novice Prep Optional: 1 Minute
Intermediate Prep Optional: 1 Minute
Advanced Prep Optiona: 1 1/2 Minutes

Prep Op Clarification

A question was asked by a coach regarding the NOVICE PREP LEVEL. Please read the question and answer below.

I know there is a 1.0 point deduction for a gymnast competing a “B” acro element on beam.  I have a gymnast wishing to do element 5.204 (Clear pike”V” support) in a straddle position.  It is listed as a group 5 hold-stand element valued as a “B”.  I do not condider it an acro element since it is listed under holds, but I wanted to clarify that this is an acceptable element at Novice Prep and will not receive the 1.0 point deduction at Novice prep.

The clear “V” sit as described in the code (#5.204) will not be considered as acro and will be allowed for the Novice Prep Opt gymnast without the 1.0 deduction.

IF the “V” sit is initiated from a handstand or cartwheel or any other acro type of skill, it will NOT be permitted for the Novice gymnast.
This particular skill was not intended to cause a 1.0 deduction for the Novice Beam worker!
