State Governing Board Elections

Our State Governing Board is currently up for election. The following positions are being run, and descriptions for each are below. Also below you will find the eligibility requirements and duties of the State Governing Board. If you are interested in running for a position you must fill out the application and mail it to Terry McGirk. It must be postmarked by June 15. If you have any questions please address them to Terry.

Secretary –
Take notes at meetings and distribute minutes to the board
Gate keeper for Level 7 Qualifier and Judges Cup
Attend Level 7 Qualifier and Judges Cup

Treasurer –
Complete financial reports to send to RJD and NJD
Oversee vouchers and distribute reimbursement funds
Organizes bank records
Organizes travel arrangements and leotards for National Judges Cup team
Attend Western Critique Clinic or Judges Cup

Western Assigner –
Coordinate master meet schedule in Western PA (YMCA, USAIGC, USAG)
Assign properly rated officials to meets
Sends out contracts
Attend Western Critique Clinic or Judges Cup

Eastern Assigner –
Coordinate master meet schedule in Eastern/Central PA (YMCA, USAIGC, USAG)
Assign properly rated officials to meets
Send contracts
Attend Western Critique Clinic or Judges Cup

Newsletter Editor/Webmaster –
Publish 3-4 newsletters a year
Maintain domain name for website
Perform maintenance on website
Post new material to website and send out web blasts
Send postings from SJD
Email correspondence
Update judges directory
Create programs for Level 7 Qualifier and Judges Cup
Attend Western Critique Clinic or Judges Cup

CPE Coordinator/Co-Judges Cup Coordinator –
Keep records of CPE credit
Report CPE credits to National Office
Print raffle tickets for camp raffle and money raffle
Attend Judges Cup

Education –
Organize and present judges clinic at USAG State Clinic
Organize new judges clinics
Clarifying technical questions
Attend Western Critique Clinic or Judges Cup

Level 7 Qualifier Meet Director/National Judges Cup Coordinator –
Secure facility for the Level 7 Qualifier
Organize the Level 7 Qualifier
Orders awards for the Level 7 Qualifier
Meet director for the Level 7 Qualifier
Corresponds with the coaches and parents of the gymnasts who qualify for the National Judges Cup
Organize travel arrangements and attire for the National Judges Cup
Attend the Level 7 Qualifier
Attend the Western Critique Clinic or Judges Cup

Western Critique Clinic Coordinator –
Secure facility and date
Coordinate gymnasts critique clinic
Organize coaches and judges clinic
Send in Special Activities report to SJD
Attend Western Critique Clinic

ELIGIBILITY FOR STATE GOVERNING BOARD MEMBER
 
1.     All National, Regional, State and At-Large Directors and Officers shall be 21 years of age.
2.     All State Governing Board Members shall be certified judges for a minimum of one year (12 months).
3.     A candidate must live in the state where her/his address is on record with the national office unless otherwise approved by the NGB.
4.     A candidate must be in good standing under the canons and disciplinary rules of the NAWGJ Code of Professional Responsibility.
5.     Must meet eligibility requirements 90 days before ballots are to be sent.

DUTIES OF THE STATE GOVERNING BOARD 

Executive
The State Governing Board Members shall:
1. Be elected in order to vote. If they are not elected, they may not carry out duties which allow them to handle funds, issue contracts, vote on State Governing Board issues, or write anything in print including newsletters on behalf of NAWGJ.
2. Be responsible to the State Judging Director.
3. Represent the state where the address is on file with the national office unless special circumstances are stated in petition to the State Governing Board in writing.
4. Fulfill the specific duties as outlined by the State Judging Director for the Board position
5. Enforce the adherence to high ethical standards in judging.

Meetings
The State Governing Board Members shall:
1. Be present at all Governing Board meetings and present, discuss and vote on pertinent issues.
2. Failure to attend two consecutive State Governing Board meetings shall constitute an automatic suspension.  A proxy will not fulfill the attendance requirement.  A proxy may be designated if he/he is a current member and approved by the State Judging Director.

Financial
The State Governing Board Members shall:
1. Approve the budge for Judges’ Cup or other special events.
2. Consult with the State Judging Director about expenditures of more than $200.00 for depreciable items and $100.00 for non-NAWGJ activities or expenditures for gifts or donations.
3. Expenditures incurred by a State Governing Board member must be approved in writing by the State Judging Director.

Failure to comply with the responsibilities of this office could result in removal from office by the State Governing Board.
